We all know how a regular image search- simply type whatever image you are looking for in a search engine and sit back and watch the results pour in. On the other, reverse image search is slightly different as it involves uploading a certain image to search for similar pictures. Simply put, you use an image as your search to look for related pictures. This comes in handy in a number of situations, particularly if you want to find the source of the image you are searching. Other uses include looking for the same picture with a higher resolution, finding the webpage where the images are situated. You can also find you uploaded the image or who has the copyrights to the picture, as well as finding more details about the photo.
You can find plenty of reverse image searchers online that are free to use. These include SmallSeoTools among a number of others. To use the tool, simply go to their and choose the reverse image search option. Next, upload the picture you want to search, or copy and paste the URL of the image. Choose the ‘search similar images’ option. You will then find similar images, or the same picture in different sizes or resolutions.
This is done when Search Engines such as Bing or Google do this by assessing or examining the submitted picture and making a calculated model of it using advanced procedures. After this it is matched with a number of similar pictures or images in Google, Bing or Yandex databases before returning matching and showing you the similar results. Google tries to use metadata about the image or its description whenever it can, making it easier if you want to use Google Search to find your photos.
Reverse image search works on every major browser out there. The most commonly used ones at the moment are Chrome 5+, Firefox 4+, Safari 5+ and Internet Explorer 9+. They all work in the same way, simply type in the URL or upload the image and hit the option “Search Google for this Image”. However, you should remember that there are a few differences. For example, on Firefox and Chrome you should right click the image you want to search and the results will appear on a new tab. In some browsers, you can also drag and drop the image onto a search engine to get your results.
While reverse image searching was only done through computers before, you can also search for images like this on your phone or tablet now. To do so however, you need to have the Google Chrome app installed on your device whether it is an Android, iPhone or an iPad. First, use the app to run a search for the image you are looking for. Next, choose the desired photo to get a larger version of it. Finally, press and hold down the image to get the options and to get more photos by choosing the “Search Google” option. Using the tool on a mobile device things can make things much more convenient for users.
Reverse Image Search makes it easier for web users to track down the pictures they need with no fuss. It takes very little time to do and can help you search for pictures more quickly when compared to the regular search option. It is important to remember that Google will store any image or URL you upload to improve the quality of the search engine for other users. This in turn improves the standards of its services and products for everyone else.
